Flushed Away
The banter continues to flow on this final table, most of it deriving from current chip leader Farzad Rouhani who has just increased his lead courtesy of Yueqi Zhu and the small matter of an eight high flush.
Even as the first card was being dealt, the table talk commenced, Chambers asking for confirmation of Rouhani's card across the other side of the felt. "It's an eight," answers Rouhani. "No, in fact, it's a great eight. The best eight in the game so far."
With Chambers getting out of the way on an early street, it was left to Zhu to enter the battlefield, calling down Rouhani all the way, including a blind bet on the final street.
"I love this game," Rouhani would say. "I got you now."

Before Rouhani showed what Zhu sensed would be the winning hand, Pappas exclaimed, "Don't turn them too quickly, I reckon I can tell you your hand."
In the end, Rouhani showed

and added, "Ah, my friend, you read real bad. You were close, but not close enough."
"I knew you were straight flushing," claimed Pappas while Zhu quietly mucked. -

Another Split Pot
As is so often the case, these games witness a host of split pots, and Event 10 is no different, today's opening levels experiencing more chops than a Karate Kid film.
The most recent example of this involved Michael Mizrachi and current chip leader Farzah Rouhani.

It was the Grinder taking the lead by betting two streets and checking the final street. Meanwhile, Rouhani would tease his opponent with comments such as "You still betting then?", "You shouldn't have done that" and "I've got it", but it was all in good spirits.
In the end, Mizrachi took the low with three small cards in the hole (dealer was too quick for me!) whilst Rouani lapped up the high with

for queens up. -

Bedtime
Well, play is very much over for the evening. Players are just bagging up, and it looks like we finish the day on 120 players. Chip counts should magically appear overnight.
Play resumes at 3pm, when we'll be playing down to final table. -

Prince Knocked Down a Peg
Prince Of Docness (man, that feels like ordering a Just Like Mom Used To Make instead of a piece of apple pie) lost a huge pot just before the end of play -- when he went in, it was Aces up versus Aces up, but they didn't stay up for long.

Waiting it Out
As is so often the case, it would appear as though players are just waiting out these last several minutes of this opening day's play as there have been a lack of final level exits. Nobody wants to make a blunder at this stage, so each move is meticulously made, as if the players are fully aware of their current fatigue and the potential for a last minute error.
