PokerNews Cup Main Event
Day 4 completed
It's been a long and exciting week of tournament poker. After five days of play, a local veteran emerged as champion of the PokerNews Cup Main Event. Unlike the finalists of some tournaments, who seem to come from nowhere, those who went deep in this event were making waves from early on.
Austrian Erich Kollman picked up the title and can add this win, his fourth major cash this year, to his already lengthy tournament resume. It's been an exciting Main Event, not only held in a great venue, but in a beautiful city.
Thanks for following the action on PokerNews, we hope you've enjoyed yourselves. We do our best to bring you the most accurate and entertaining live updates available. The WSOP Circuit Main Event - Caesars Palace is the next stop for the PokerNews Team being held on April 29th. We hope you'll join us.
From Salzburg Austria, Good Night and Good Luck!
Following the elimination of Niki Kovacs, both Andrew Nicholson and Erich Kollman were once again eager to pause the clock and enter into further discussions.
Kollman held approximately a 2:1 chip count, and after some negotations it became evident that an agreement had been reached in regards to the prize money, with Erich Kollmann being declared the winner without any further cards being dealt.
Well done to Andrew Nicholson on a superb tournament and congratulations to the PokerNews Cup Champion - Austria's own Erich Kollman!
Erich Kollman sat this hand out from the button and Niki Kovacs raised to 60,000 from the small blind. As is his method, Andrew Nicholson announced raise and then tossed in his call. After a bit of consideration, Nicholson pushed out 220,000 more chips. Kovacs verbally declared "all in" for 121,000 more and Nicholson insta-called. The players showed:

It had come down to a coinflip for one third of the chips in play. Both men stood as the

flop was dealt. Kovacs was drawing to runner-runner broadway that never came. The turn and river came the

respectively. Kovacs made a slow but sportsmanlike exit and meandered towards the payout area to collect his € 11,690 payday.
A short stacked Niki Kovacs has started to get busy and move some chips around the table. He really has nothing to lose now as he attempts to double up and get himself back in the contest.
He had a perfect opportunity in a recent hand, where he came over the top of an opening raise from fellow Austrian Erich Kollmann. Kollmann got away from the hand, folding pocket fives face up as Kovacs flashed pocket eights!
The players have taken an unscheduled break to have a brief discussion. Play will resume shortly.
Erich Kollmann raised from the button to 55,000 and Hugo Felix quickly defended his big blind by making the call.
The flop came

and both players checked.
The turn brough the

and Felix led out with a bet of 84,000. Kollmann went into the tank for a long time before eventually announcing a raise, making it 275,000 in total. Felix looked his stack which totalled around 355,000 and decided to commit it all to the pot. Kollmann quickly called and the cards were tabled:

Kollmann:

Needing a ten on the river to survive the river landed

to send Hugo Felix to the rail after a tremendous tournament in 4th place for €9,350 in prize money.
Erich Kollmann now has a commanding lead over the other two players and has burst through the 1 million chip mark!
