Summary

Pacific Poker is a site on the 888 network. This network is behind one of the largest casinos online, and therefore attracts many casino players to the Poker tables. Pacific offers all casino games as well as poker tables.

Pacific has a reputation for being one of the loosest, donkey filled sites on the net. It is especially recommended for lower limit players, as the smaller Holdem games are ripe with horrible players. The amount of players seeing the flop is obscenely high! The bonuses are solid on Pacific, and as mentioned the play is terrible, so this site attracts many players that like action.

For years this site was notorious for having really crappy graphics. Well that has changed and now the graphics are not bad at all. The recent updates have made the site much better to play on, and have attracted more players.
There are two real problems with this Pacific Poker. The first is the rake structure, which is not optimal. It is higher than some other sites. The second is the customer support, which has gotten some flak in the past. The overall fishiness of the games thankfully makes up for these flaws.

Cash Games

Pacific Poker offers Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, 7 Card Stud, and 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo. The limits range from $.02-$.04 to $75-$150. The most popular games are clearly the Hold'em. It can be difficult to find much action in anything else in non-peak periods. The competition level is pretty bad. This is what makes the cash games on this site acceptable to play. The fish on Pacific Poker routinely see the flop with any 2 cards, and call to the river in hopes of hitting a miracle. Nut camping is a good strategy here, although remember with so many loose callers, your premiums are in danger of getting cracked more often. There are tables available in full ring, shorthanded and heads-up formats, offered in no-limit, limit and pot-limit.

Sit and Gos

The Sit and Go action on Pacific Poker is pretty basic, with tables available in all the sizes games and structures. The shorthanded SnGs are more popular then the full table ones, so if you are into shorthanded SnGs, this site has lots of them.

MTTs

Pacific Poker is not known for its tournaments. They are primarily low limit buy-ins, and don't attract any sharks. For recreational players, this is of course a great thing. For the more seasoned tournament players, this offers some big guarantee tournaments, and satellites into live events. There is also a weekly Sunday $88+8 buy-in with an 80k guarantee.

There are many small tournaments running around the clock, so there is good action for the types of players that like smaller fields, smaller buy-ins and easier competition. Pacific Poker is obviously good for new players or recreational players.

Player Points

Pacific Poker uses 'Comp Points' for frequent play. These Comp Points are earned while you play. Every raked hand or tournament entered generates these points. The Comp Points are redeemable for Cash. Chips and/or tournament entries.

Freerolls

There are the basic Freerolls on PacificPoker. There is a $3500 free roll for all new depositors.

Interface User/Friendliness

In the past, Pacific Poker was known as one of the worst interfaces and networks available. The site has one through great lengths to fix this, and now boasts decent graphics and stable servers and software. Pacific Poker is available not only by download, but also with Java. It is a MAC friendly site, and also accommodates Linux users.

The new software has included the ability to play up to 4 tables at a time, which is a huge improvement from the old-school one table at a time it used to be. The cashier is now visible at all times, and the casino and bingo functions have been incorporated well. One of the most unique changes is the hand re-player, which actually graphically plays back previous hands for you to watch.

There is note taking and a good hand history feature with Pacific Poker. There is also a cool feature, and that is keyboard controlled actions. Instead of needing a mouse to check or call, you can do it with hotkeys on the keyboard. There is also a poker school for new players which look cool.

Level of Play

Pacific Poker is a fishy site. Due to casino players and new players joining for the good bonuses, this is one of the softest sites on the net. There are all kinds of maniacs and donkeys running around Pacificpoker. Since the games are so loose, it is very possible to have premium hands drawn out on, but the flip side being if you hit your hand you can make a lot of profit.

Traffic

Pacific Poker is a pretty busy site, especially at the lower limits of No-Limit Holdem. Since they started lots of guaranteed tournaments, and allowed multi-tabling, the traffic has gone up. It is always easy to find a game of Holdem, but tougher to find a great table with some of the other games.

Support Cashier

PacificPoker has email and phone customer support options. In the past, the support has had issues when it comes to dealing with difficult matters. The waiting time for responses can also take awhile. So basically it is not very knowledgeable support that can take awhile to answer difficult problems. It is hit or miss, sometimes it is quick and accurate, and other times it can drag on.

The cashier is solid, depositing is easy. Cashing out can be a bit of a problem, as it generally takes a few days to clear. Also to note is that the support is in English only.

Conclusion

Overall, Pacific Poker has done well in recent years. Pacificpoker have listened to their players and updated the site to be on par with what is expected. They have great promotions, bonuses and freerolls. Pacific realized its place in the industry and decided to ramp it up with so many promotions and great ideas for the players. Pacific Poker does well since so many of the players are donkeys and fish pushing money around. PacificPoker is recommended for new and old players alike. It has soft games, and is generally neglected by the better players on the other sites. Sign up through PokerNews and receive our great bonuses that go with it.
